The construction of main pipelines is impossible without prompt and high-quality performance of lifting operations. The solution of the tasks of lifting and moving large-capacity loads is carried out using special mechanisms and devices, a separate type of which is a traverse for pipes.

This attachment is used with various lifting machines and is a beam of welded construction, which is equipped with symmetrically arranged suspensions. The main purpose of such a mechanism as a pipe traverse is to lift and move long loads, mainly pipes, during loading and unloading operations, including on sites with a limited lifting height of the load. As an example, this situation occurs when loading metal pipes on platforms, in railway gondola cars, pipe carriers, when unloading products and storing them on pipe welding bases. The weight of the load must not exceed the carrying capacity of the traverse itself.

The use of equipment such as a pipe traverse avoids damage to the load as a result of the compressive force that inevitably occurs when using conventional slings.
